If you're anything like us, you're concerned about the environment. With April shattering the global temperature average, the threat of climate change has never been more real or present. But we can each to do our part to help combat climate change, and Ford is leading the charge. Earlier today, Ford announced that it had developed a sustainable new practice to manufacture automotive plastics and foam via recaptured carbon emissions.
This is just the latest in a long line of sustainable technology and advancements that Ford has put into its vehicles and manufacturing processes. Last month on Earth Day, Ford gave us a look inside its Dearborn Truck plant, where it uses a closed-loop recycling system to recirculate byproduct from its aluminum stamping process. In addition, the product of that plant, the all-new 2016 F-150, ranks among the most sustainably constructed vehicles on the road, featuring REPREVE fabric seating, a material made from recycled plastic bottles.
Ford's recaptured carbon plastic will blaze a new frontier for sustainable materials in Ford's vehicles, and it hopes to implement a full rollout of these new processes within the next five years. However, with the efficient technology that is available in many new Ford vehicles, Ford is already on the front lines of the fight against climate change.
