One of the technologies that Ford has been talking about a lot as of late is its family of EcoBoost engines. If you've heard of it, you might have tended toward the foregone conclusion that this tech is all about high gas mileage numbers. In that, you'd be right, but EcoBoost also offers some of the highest power numbers around.
The mantra of EcoBoost is built on a mixture of turbocharging and direct injection technology within the engine. With turbocharging, more air and fuel is forced into the engine, giving it more power without sacrificing gas mileage. Direct injection, on the other hand, funnels fuel directly to the mill without the usual intake tract. The result: high torque, and high gas mileage numbers.
